I spent Canada Day 2014 out in Canmore. The highlight of the day was watching the parade. The weather today was very warm, very sunny, an all around great day.
Waiting with Don, Di, Mom & Dad on the parade route. We went down early to reserve spots on the route, which is one nice thing about Canmore. There are plenty of good spots along the route to see the parade. It's much different than the Calgary Stampede parade, where finding a decent spot is almost impossible because of the crowds. There's something to be said about small towns.
Chatting with the....um...local medical paramedic.....
Now THAT is a stethoscope.
See? The photographer does make it into the shot sometimes!
Morgan, who is one hot dog today. This was Morgans first parade, he was barking at just about everything. Especially the horses...hoooboy, he loved the horses.
A warm day on the route.
I sure hope the guy on the right brought his sunscreen.
Canada Day would not be Canada Day without the Mounties. Earlier this year, three RCMP officers were killed in Moncton New Brunswick when a gunman started shooting; three officers died needlessly. The thought of those lost officers was never far from the people along the route who all applauded a little louder than usual when these Mounties marched by.
The Calgary Police Pipe band. Nothing quite like listening to a pipe band go by.
Mom & Dad.
There was lots of representation from the Calgary Stampede.
The Empire even sent a Storm Trooper to participate.
I love these cars. Awesome.
Gotta love the Shriners, these guys look like they have such a blast.
This guy was pretty elaborate. I would think that this would be pretty warm on a hot day like this.
Kids riding on the firetruck.
After last year's floods, these guys earned an extra round of applause from the crowds.
Happy Canada Day!
